Prinker – Temporary Tattoo Solution

If you are wondering what PRINKER is, please watch these videos. (You’ve probably never seen this device before ) It was one of the greatest Korean inventions and only for B2B for now)

I signed a contract with Prinker in Nov 2018 to create 30 tattoo designs, and I’ve been working on the designs since then.

I was interested in developing tattoo images because of my strong line works, but Prinker’s designs needed more than just good drawings.

The designs required to be in a limited size which was a short height, and a long width, (8100pix x 1080pix). Moreover, there’s no pure white and black ink in the device, and colors made out of C,M,Y cosmetic inks.

And the most important/hardest thing was that tattoo designs have to stick out of skin!

So some of them could be switched to new designs, but here are my tattoo designs for Prinker ⬇︎⬇︎⬇︎

When Prinker was delivered to me it looked like this.

I experimented until I got the right designs, so I’ve tried million times on my skin, my family’s and my students’.

Check out below and happy 2019!! Hopefully Prinker on your skin soon! 🙂

Kotra GMV 2018 Art Collaboration Exhibition & NYT Business

I had a pleasure to exhibit my Alcalde magazine and some NYT Business section works for the Kotra’s GMV 2018 art collaboration exhibition from Oct 10 ~ 12th 2018 at YangJae AT center in Seoul.

GMV is a Global Mobile Vision Conference and one of the largest international fairs in ICT industry in Asia. They invited domestic and global software/solution players and hold a forum that will present the hottest and most up to date global IT trends.

So, Kotra thought that my Alcalde magazine cover and the opener is PERFECT to exhibit for the exhibition! It was my great honor to be invited with other amazing artists and companies.

Hope you enjoy the exhibition photos!

Last year, I was asked for doing a cover art for the NYT Travel section, but it was cancelled at the last minute because of the hurricane in the US… I was so sad, but have been waited for another assignment.

This year, AD Minh Uong asked me to draw one illustration for the workologist section, so here you can see the art! Link

Hope you enjoy! 🙂

Summer vacation is almost over!!!

Since I started teaching undergrad students in Seoul, ( we have summer and winter vacations evenly two months each every year) I was looking forward to summer and winter vacations so badly.

Of course, I really enjoy teaching during semesters, but there’s not much time for myself, so the vacation time became more valuable.

Thanks to Kookmin Univ for offering faculty and staff only vacation house, so I went to Manlipo there I had so much fun at a beautiful beach at the beginning of July. HOWEVER, right after I came back to Seoul, the weather became crazy hot and Seoul suffered 24 tropical nights in a row and still we can’t live without air conditioners!!! (The weather forced me to go to an indoor swimming pool almost everyday!! now I became a REAL seal. lol)

Anyways, so I finally found a brand new co-working space in Seoul which is like a trend these days in this city. It is pretty much awesome so far, and made me everyday productive.

I’m teaching printmaking including silkscreen and risograph next semester, so I was so excited, and started linocut in my studio for warming up! ( I’m planning to make 100 works of linocut!)

I also did the client works with digital media. So here’s my latest works below.

GQ USA March 2018

I drew a simple, but not SO simple map for GQ’s March 2018 issue! Glad to see the finished layout!

Thanks AD Martin Salazar!

Today is a Korean holiday, and official school started day is tomorrow.

I’m teaching three classes this semester, and pretty much excited about it!

Wish me luck! 🙂
